Ph.D. position in Computer Networking

Description

A Ph.D. position is available within the Privacy & Security (PriSec) Group at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Karlstad University. PriSec is focusing on privacy-enhancing technologies, IT security and usable security & privacy technologies. The candidate is supposed to contribute to the EU FP7 projects A4Cloud and SmartSociety.

Within the scope of these projects, the PhD student will conduct research on privacy-enhancing technologies and usable privacy and will in particular contribute to the development privacy-enhancing transparency tools for the Cloud and the development of usable user interfaces for such tools.

Eligibility

Eligible for this position are candidates with a University degree of 240 ECTS, from which at least 60 ECTS were awarded for courses at advanced level and have a Master’s degree or the Swedish Magister or Civilingenjör Degrees in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Qualified are also those candidates who have achieved corresponding degrees or knowledge in Sweden or abroad.

Knowledge or experience in some of the areas of privacy enhancing technologies, transparency-enhancing tools and usable security & privacy is desirable.

Terms

The position is limited to 4 years, but can be prolonged for up to one more year, if the PhD student also takes over other research, teaching or administrative tasks besides his PhD research. Those tasks should not exceed 20% of the time of a full-time position. The earliest date for filling the position is the 1st October 2013.
